The Farm
Our Farm
On our regenerative farm in Chiang Mai, we work the land responsibly and consciously to grow fantastic fruits and vegetables, raise healthy cows and chickens for milk and eggs, and make biologically active compost.
We design our water system to capture and hold as much water as it can. We slow water down as it moves through our landscape using terracing and swales and infiltrate it into the landscape. This helps keep water in our soil and keeps our farm healthy through the dry season.
Animals play a key row in our ecosystem here. We use them to cycle nutrients on our farm. Our cow pastures and chicken tractor sit right above our market garden and go in between our food forest. This allows the manure of the cows and chickens to fertilize the systems without much work from us.
Our gardening techniques continue to build soil biology and soil organic matter. We strive to bring back diversity, the earth worm population, and other soil life.

Our Farming Practices
At Sunshine Permaculture, we prioritize healthy soil. We employ regenerative farming practices on our farm in order to improve soil health to grow healthy produce for our customers. Here are some of the regenerative farming techniques that we practice
- No tillage; When we till we destroy soil structure. By not tilling we can build soil that is not compacted or prone to erosion.
- The Soil Food Web; Chemical usage & tillage destroys the diversity of soil organisms. Our farming practices creates organism diversity and a complex food web.
- Building soil organic matter; we aim to increase our soil organic matter each year as we farm. SOM significantly improves the soil's capacity to hold & store nutrients and water.
- Bio-intensive gardening; We focus on achieving maximum yields under a minimum area of land.
